In the name of hygiene disposable tissue papers have replaced cotton made napkins in almost all walks of life. Large number of trees are cut to produce Tissue paper. Whether the process of manufacturing is sustainable process ? if yes How ? If not what is the role of educational Institute to promote re-usable eco-friendly cotton napkins after washing ?
Well, Actually which of industrial manufacturing process is sustainable? When the machineries of the process (pumps, motors, etcetera) be friendly with the environment about operation, maintenance or like trash, then you can talk about process sustainable.
to be honest, the answer is short and clear, NO. and the best way to reduce the harm of the industry is to develop the culture of using cotton napkins again.
Arman is probably right, but in the meantime one thing that tissue companies could do is calculate the ratio between number of napkins (or similar products) and trees that are cut to produce them and at least plant an equal number of trees to compensate for the destruction.
Many companies are doing this and there are even companies specialized in doing that for you (plant trees).
