Since the new developmentalism encompasses so many aspects of developmental change, it is not clear which aspects are being prioritized, which previous theories contribute the most to the new approach, or how it is even possible to combine some many parameters in a workable theory?  It almost sounds as if "it looks at everything important about development," and "answers all the questions that should be asked!"  Even as a teen-ager, I remember hearing that "something that explains everything, explains nothing!"
