My study is on Research Literacy (RL). My first objective is to develop respondents' literacy profiling based on demographic variables (gender, level of study, study mode) and my second objective is to develop a RL model which demographic variables as moderator variables. So, is that possible to develop profile based on moderator variables?

I think you have to test the demographic variables for its moderation effect. To judge the variable as a moderator in one study, does not mean it is a moderator in another study. The sample, settings, design, etc. are reasons for the changes in the variable effect over different studies. Thus, after you test the demographic variables in the standard way for its possible moderation effect, then you can move to the next step. Then you can develop the respondents' literacy profile from each group of variables after you confirm its testing classification.
