1) The labour is a factor which is significantly reduced with direct seeding compared to direct seeding
2) If a minimum of herbicide are associated, good yields for wheat should be obtained in semi arid areas (https://www.researchgate.net/publication/287200974_Direct_seeding_emergence_in_the_Agricultural_farms_of_the_Setif_plain_Algeria?_iepl%5BviewId%5D=aM5jiBkcjxkeFHgl8bwLztiv&_iepl%5BprofilePublicationItemVariant%5D=default&_iepl%5Bcontexts%5D%5B0%5D=prfpi&_iepl%5BinteractionType%5D=publicationTitle)
Yes, rice direct seeding is successful if planted on soils with good physio-chemical properties and enough water holding capacity. But, weeds problem is still an issue in this system.
Weed infestation is the main problem especially at early stages of rice. So you will take care alot during early stages. Overall for water and labor saving, Direct seeding is the best option.
Ithank you very much for this answer. But, i would ask if the practice of direct seeding does not give rise to the risk of appearance of diseases such as those due to fungi for example.
