Making 85% class room attendance compulsory (it is prevalent in some of the universities and most of the autonomous Institutes in India) though, an apt prescription for slow learners, takes away a fraction of academic time for self study and indigenous thinking for fast learners and intelligent students.

Although, we have seen for years that more the attendance more would be the result (academic). But, as far as as learning outcome in today's context is concerned, attendance does not play role. Making attendance 85% mandatory for UG students of Engineering may be fruitful for Universities only. This much attendance does not ensure that all those who are having 85% of attendance are employable.
