Respected Sir,
I want to develop a mix design on fly ash with other solid waste material on different trial basis. The solid waste may be produced from industry or any waste product of food material. I have taken some trial on this experiment and it is observed that the solid mix design which is prepared from laboratory scale on mixing with water, shows very similar properties like cement (It may be binding property).But one thing sir this experiment is just on trial basis ,we have not optimized the final mix design.
In this regard I kindly request you to give me your valuable suggestion on modification of the work, parameter maintain during sample preparation, characterization of the sample required etc related to this work so on.

Fly ash is a good pozzolana. Normally it is a cohesionless material and is a great drawback as a binding material.Also it is non plastic. If you want to use it as a binding material, you have to enhance its cohesiveness.
Fly ash may be used as a binder but the concrete resulting from it may have limited applications.

I guess the fly ash you are using is a Class C fly ash which is self-cementing. Two classes of fly ash are defined by ASTM Standard C618 - 08a (2008). These are Class F fly ash and Class C fly ash. The main difference between these classes is the amount of calcium, silica, alumina, and iron content in the ash. The chemical properties of the fly ash are largely influenced by the chemical content of
the coal burned, which in turn depends on the type of coal, which could be anthracite, bituminous or sub-bituminous coal, or lignite. Class F fly ash is produced from the burning of anthracite or bituminous coal, and is generally low in lime, usually under 15 percent, and contains a greater combination of silica, alumina and
iron (greater than 70 percent) than Class C fly ash. It is siliceous and typically pozzolanic.
Class C fly ash on the other hand, is produced from lignite or sub-bituminous coal. These types of coal produce an ash with higher lime (CaO) content (from 15 to 30 percent), which makes it calcareous and gives it some unique self-cementing
characteristics. Class C fly ash therefore possesses latent hydraulic properties in addition to its pozzolanic properties, and is therefore especially useful in soil stabilization since it may not require the addition of lime.
As regards modification of your work using binders. It is always advisable that there is a little percentage (say 30 percent) of a primary binder (lime and cement) added to your secondary binder (waste product ash) like in the case of the Class C fly ash. Also note that fly ash is not a primary binder hence adding it to another waste product ash may reduce its binding properties.
