Edelson et al.(1) showed in their paper that it is safe to charge a defibrillator during CPR. Some do this so that once CPR is stopped for a pulse check, a few seconds can be shaved off the charge time in order for the shock to be delivered promptly. If the rhythm is found not to be shockable, then the charge is 'dumped". It seems to me that doing this every two minute will quickly deplete batteries, and could lead to an inadvertent shock being delivered if you push "shock" instead of dumping as an accident. Is it a good idea to charge and dump?
