Intelligence has traditionally been defined as the ability to adapt to the situations life presents and to solve the problems it poses. According to Fanny Nusbaum, intelligence is a little more than that. The person “in competence” adapts to the environment, but the person “in performance” ultimately changes the situation. As for the person “in antiphase”, i.e. in difficulty or failure, he or she is no doubt going through an unfavorable situation (due to fatigue, stress, physical or psychological problems or other factors), or perhaps he or she simply needs to rethink the situation and try something else instead of trying something else that is probably doomed to failure! All three cases are temporary, but some people are more often “in competence” or “in performance” than others, and for longer periods.
