The control of redundant DIO messages would increase the life time of the motes in IoT, but will it affect the performance and stability of network and quick formation of the network topology? Are there any papers or works related to it? Any Idea?

Suppressing DIO messages consequently leads to unoptimized routes which affects network performance. Moreover, this kind of attack requires very less device power which gives an extra benefit to a adversary for performing long term attacks. The attack is termed as DIO suppression. For more details you can refer to paper authored by Perazzo et al.
