Does anyone give his/her opinion about IGI Global Publishing. I would like to know if anyone has had experience in publishing some chapter in their books. Thank you all! http://www.igi-global.com/
I found contacts with IGI Global professionals helpful and reliable while in publishing process. Impact might be little less then other big publishers like Springer or Elsevier. It's clear that their business model counts on payment by authors and readers, while they offer not much Open Access publications yet. Looking at well recognized colleagues in my area, IGI Global is regularly used depending on specific journals and books.
I was acting conservatively about publishing my IGI content here on Researchgate, now knowing the rules exactly. But your work might be hidden there.
Additionally, I get tons of advertising emails recommending to advice my university librarians to buy subscriptions from IGI.
My overall recommendation is ambiguous.
They publish over 200 journals. I just had an article published by the International Journal of Computer Assisted Language Learning (IJCALLT) published by IGI Global. They handled it very professionally and were quite helpful.
Of course, each journal and book project probably has a different editorial team.
Great! Thank you very much. I didn't know where to search for official information!

Dear Maria I decided to accept their invitation and try it out. While researching IGIGlobal I found a 2017 article in Springer publications describing them as "vanity publishing", and vampire publishers. However, they are not included in Beals List of predatory publishers So I decided to go ahead with it. Here is the link to the article.
https://eur02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Flink.springer.com%2Farticle%2F10.1007%2Fs11019-016-9740-3&data=02%7C01%7Crenakamp%40hotmail.com%7Ce25f2e83f9a6499f922608d52b832478%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C636462764599508202&sdata=3jlxtlCioSZNR2VSkqouo4KqIUA5qFAzBGtxCyzmueI%3D&reserved=0
You should check this. In their website they include a list of books indexed in Web of Science . Check it out and see if all those books belong to them, namely are they published by IGI Global?.

Lots of researchers have negative opinion about the NOVA publ, USA, Lambert Academic publishing, Germany , and now IGI. How can one be sure as to which publishers are genuine?
I have a very good experience, and I think that it depends on the disciplines and fields of your publication. In literatures and politics studies I can say that I had very good experience and they worked hard to include the book in Scopus, etc. high impact index. Best wishes and good luck!
Just need to keep in mind that it is not open access, you cannot disseminate your articles or chapters anywhere, cannot upload them on Research Gate, Academia, etc., so don't expect to get any citations on your work...
Not only journals fool researchers. Rogue book publishers also want to make money even if what they produce does not forward science one iota. For instance, the publisher IGI Global specializes in publishing large edited collections (Bogost 2008; Weber-Wulff 2007). They press a few dozen copies that cost maybe 500 euros each. The idea seems to be that the editor of the book, a researcher craving more academic merits, gets a nice item to add to the publication list, while the publisher draws money from selling a few mandatory library copies.
As per norm truth lies somewhere in the middle ground. They stretch between very good and lower quality adopting an aggressive marketing strategy. The aim is to facilitate publication and target both the bulk and the selective pool of authors, departing from the traditional model "quality through the bottleneck, by the few for the few". In my opinion the IT advancements lie at the root of this huge paradigm shift in the publishing industry. One needs to stay alert and go cautiously on a case by case basis when searching for the appropriate journal.
I totally agree with you. It depends on journals and disciplines within the editorial objetivo of this debate. I was happy with the result indeed but not everyone probably had the same experiencia.
All the best
I have worked two times with igi. First project was an edited book and second one was the guest editorship. For my book am regularly getting royalty. The special issue of the journal is amicably published now. It was a good experience: The company provides all assistance necessary for publishing..
My experience of working with IGI Global is very positive. They have very high quality journals indexed in Web of Science and Scopus. During last years they have performed a great effort to improve the impact factor of some of their journals. Another positive point is that the feedback is typically received between 2-3 months. The negative points are essentially three: the credibility of each journal is very dependent of the editor (some journals are not well indexed or don’t have good papers); there are too many calls for chapters (some of them are not very credible initiatives); the price to get a simple article is very high.
Thank you, Fernando, very good summary!
I totally agree with you...I would just add the open access issue, too...all the best
I'm currently working on an edited volume for a book with IGI global. So far they are very cordial and very professional. Within a week of my post I've received at least 10 chapter proposal across the globe.
Hello, you can verify it in

With the ISSN - IGI Global is accredited.

Currently , I am doing a book chapter on a topic related to block chain for IGI global. Is it worthy ? Can I add the book chapter in my CV or in an application for international scholarship ? Please help me out.
I think the truth lies midway through and very much on the editorial team of the project. IGI are publishing a lot of books and it impossible for them to keep the quality of each and every book or article.
Dear Maria,
Please also have a look at this ResearchGate link.
Article The false academy: predatory publishing in science and bioethics
Good luck!
My experience with and impression of IGI Global is different and mostly negative. First of all they have the most restrictive copyright agreement I had ever heard from, overall not acceptable for German (European) university members. For example, they prohibit explicitly to upload a manuscript of an article here on RG! Moreover, you have to agree that they send dozens of advertisement emails to your local library to convince them to subscribe journals with the authors credentials! They are not working professional. I never got a final copy of a published journal article and I would have had to buy my own article for a final proofreading. No recommendation for this publisher! And at least in Germany it seems libraries have no subscription of their journals. So total closed access and no visibility and no citing of their/your journal articles! Of course, books are a different thing.
I use comments. Thanks
With the best wishes
Mr Rezaei Ahvanooei.
I want to publish my book with IGI publisher what your suggestion to me. If not which publisher you suggest, my book on "Antibiotics production by Actinobacteria".
With great regards.
Dear Maria
I already published 3 chapters and 3 articles in different journals of IGI indexed in Scopus and web of science. I found the editorial process very serious and professional. In every publication, they send me a free soft copy of my manuscript through my account and a free hard copy of the issue in which I published my manuscript. They offer also discounts for authors.
Best wishes.
I have already published a paper in an IGI Global journal. The editor is a respectable professor in our field and the review process was serious. You can check the editor before publishing your book or paper.
Another serious question (other than the credibility of the publisher) is the exposure you get when you publish your work with them.
If you have published in an IGI Journal or book, did your work get reasonable citations as compared to your publications with other publishers?
Dear all...I have to say that, in the end, I had a good experience. I have also found that this publisher is indexed in Scopus, Clarivate Analysis Jcr. And it was not clear at the moment of acceptance if the book chapter (I don't know why)...
The only limit I have seen is that one cannot disseminate the full text, but just the abstract as It is not open access...
Good luck with publications
Hello, I just published a chapter on "Plagiarism and Ethical Issues" in a IGI book on Ethics, Entrepreneurship, and Governance in Higher Education. I am very satisfied. I can assure you it is not predatory at all. Actually, in the chapter, I give a detailed definition of predatory publishing and I talk about Beall. My chapter was first reviewed by the two editors and then by 3 anonymous reviewers. The all process was done as seriously as with a reputable academic journal. I did not pay anything and I received the full paper of my chapter for free. You can only find the abstract and beginning of the chapter online for free, well you know, because of copyright. The whole process took around one year.
You should worry only when you are asked to pay a lot of money for a "publication" that will be published within a few days or weeks, obviously without being peer-reviewed.
I have published several articles, a book chapter and a book now with IGI. They have managed this process professionally and to a generally high standard. The journals have varying impact factors but that is OK and is to be expected with such a wide portfolio.
Some of the journals are indexed in SCI and Scopus. I have also recently published a paper and two chapters in IGI Global. I found the review process vary in the reputation of the journal. Two of my papers communicated in IGI global had been rejected along with the reviewer's long comments. But the acceptance rate of book chapter must be very high. I think the quality depends on the reputation of the journals not on the publication.
Maria Luisa Di Martino they are very professional. I know you asked this question a long time ago, and i hope you managed to get published with them. As mentioned the team, takes you through all the steps and if they need anything, communication is also another strong point belonging to the organisation.
Thank you so much, Robert. Indeed, I got a chapter published with them. I had not problems, they gave me very clear guidelines. I managed my own English copy writing and it was published in Scopus, Web of Sciece...I'm happy with the results! Best wishes and thank you again
@Maria Luisa Di Martin, thanks for your comments. I just submitted my book proposal to IGI Global and received an initial positive response within two weeks.
Maria Luisa Di Martino, I have had a chapter published in one of their books and it was well handled. The publication guidelines are as good as you would find with Palgrave, Emerald, Sage and the rest. I have had opportunity to review for some of their journals and they work very well with reviewers recommendations. The peer review process is unbias and I would recommend anyone to publish with them.
We have submitted a book chapter "Impact of social and cultural challenges in the education using AI (131118-014819)" for the call on " Cultural and Social Implications of Artificial Intelligence in Education ". it's been more than five months, I haven't got any notification about the acceptance of the book chapter or other information. i have send many emails but no body can reply. Now what i do i cant understand. please help me on this
@Kapil, I suggest you call them on phone. You can find their contact details online. As for me, I submitted a book proposal on February 2, and got an acceptance notice on February 14 which is less than 2 weeks.
Hi Kapil, since your submission was for a book Chapter, maybe you should contact the book editors instead of IGI Global. Take another look at the "call for book chapter" online to see if you can find any contact information for the book editors. Good luck.
Dear augustine, the link is disable for that book chapter and there is no such option available to contact editor. May be the editor discontinue with that book chapter
Hi Kapil, I'm sure you deserve a feedback. Try contacting IGI Global directly using any of the following details :
Email - [email protected]
Tel. - 7175338845 ext. 171
Fax - 7175338661
Dear Kapil, I'm sorry to hear from you those trouble issues. I think that you should write to the Editor. Indeed, in my case, I was in touch with the Editor all the time. It's very strange that you have not received any feedback by him/her.
I suggest you contact with IGI Global by some emails, as Dr. Augustine Nwajana has already said. I can facilitate some contacts below:
Mrs. Donna Wilkie, Assistant Development Editor
email: [email protected]
Phone: 717-533-8845; Fax: 717-533-8661
Colby Conway Managing Editor of Journal Development
Phone: 717-533-8845; Fax: 717-533-8661 E-mail: [email protected]
I hope you can have an answer as soon as possible.

I have just finishing editing a book with IGI Global...It was a nice experience. I had always quick feedback for any question.
I would like to share this book with you:
https://www.igi-global.com/book/business-transformations-era-digitalization/205238
Thanks Maria Luisa , IGI tells me the editor is no longer with us and they trying to find a new editor. but Maria can you tell me how much time it takes.
Hi Kapil, as soon as your chapter is approved, you will be added to the IGI Global eEditorial and you would have some set target dates. It all depends on the book editors, so just exercise some patience and wait for the approval to come through.
Thanks Augustine now patience is the last option for me... thanks for the help.
Hi, Kapil, about what? About the publication? In my experience 1 year more or less, Best wishes
I have worked with them, had two chapters published with them. They are good, reliable, professional. They may not be household name, 'gold star' publishers (e.g. Routledge, Oxford University Press, Penguin) but a decent experience, at least for me.
IGI is a legit publisher. The journals and books range from acceptable to high. Varies considerably but to my knowledge, none are predatory.
Greetings
I recently published an article in the journal, International Journal of Manufacturing, Materials, and Mechanical Engineering. I can say that the process was fast, with excellent peer review. Besides, the magazine can verify it in:
https://www.scimagojr.com/journalsearch.php?q=21100242227&tip=sid&clean=0

IGI Global is a very unprofessional and exploitative publisher. They don’t have the good ethics of scientific research publishing. Based on my experience in two times that I submitted to them, I decided never to submit any paper to any of their journals or books again. In the first time, I submitted a paper to an IGI Global journal. The paper was reviewed by only one reviewer, and his or her decision was to reject without stating any convincing or clear reasons. The editor rejected the paper without providing any comments or reasons. In the second time, I submitted a book chapter which was reviewed by three reviewers, and all three replied with very minor revisions and gave all their score 7 and 8 out of 8. The two editors of the book then rejected the chapter after four months saying that “It is not fit to the scope of the book”. I sent objection emails to the book development and to the editors without getting any reply. It is very annoying to have such bad publishers deceiving researchers with their statements that they do correct peer reviewing and publishing. My advice to all fellow researchers: submit your papers only to well-known publishers that you trust.
IGI Global is a legitimate and decent publisher. It is NOT a predatory publisher; you do not pay anything to get published. Articles are not open access, but if you do not have funds to pay for open-access fees, it is a fair way to get published. From my experience with a paper submitted, the period between accepted for publication status and published online, it was relatively long in comparison to Routledge or Elsevier. I guess this is due to be a smaller publisher with fewer resources available (copy-editors etc). However, my overall impression is of professional publishing service. Once again, you do not have to pay anything, in an era where open-access is promoted as an ideal standard, but ultimately leads to either walled gardens, or predatory –cheaper– also walled, gardens. I hope IGI Global to continue to be independent and not bought by a mega-publishing company. Diversity is critical, it's good to have more available choices for publishing, free of charge.
Greetings, excellent editor, publish an article with them, very quickly the process of acceptance of review and editing. Moreover, most importantly, they have Scopus, and it is indexed. If you want to publish open source you pay and if not they do not charge you, but you give the rights as in any magazine, highly recommended IGI-Global.
