Usually, we use a paper mask with  the corresponding pattern.

We use a suitable holder for thin steel foil with suitable pattern. In order to reduce the problems (I mean scratches) generated by defects at the pattern edges, we generally integrated a spacer in the mask holder. Generally the lower resolution achieved in this way is not a problem for the evaluation of the actual area covered by the metal electrode.
