It is my wish or internal feelings to have the answer of my question from experts without going through a book, a paper or browsing internet. I do not know what is this.
Do you want to have experts' opinion regarding a topic/question and you want to know what would be name of the method? If so, perhaps you are talking about "focus group".
It would be great if you could explain your question a little more.
Thanks if you remove my ambiguity, puzzling or situation of dilemma. I, for example, put a question regarding my issue or problem I am facing at the moment. I do not try to go through a book, a paper or do not brows internet to have the relevant material to solve my issue. I directly put a question on RG waiting for comments from experts. What psychology is working behind this thought or idea? I do not know. Thanks also for all to help.
I am not sure what would be it called particularly in psychology. However, whenever we encounter a problem, there are different ways a solution can be found. For example, going through literature or asking an expert or asking a friend. Now selection from the aforementioned "ways of solution" depends upon the type of the questions, resources available and expertise of the investigator.
The usual path is to find solution through existing literature, such as consulting books, articles, and similar resources. If the solution is not found then we move to consult the experts or the general public, depending upon the type of the question.
Now there are several ways consultation with experts can be done. For example, interviews, Focus group, Delphi. I would suggest to check for qualitative research methods, any of them can be used by taking experts as the respondents. The aforementioned methods have been used in real life, however, the similar approach can be used online using different media, for example, RG, LinkedIn, Facebook, depending upon where you can find the experts. So the methods would remain the same but the mode will change from real life to online. I believe there are several studies that talks about pros and cons of both approaches.
You have not offended by your method of obtaining information from colleagues rather than read from books.
For one, we are still human beings not robots and want to interact with real people. Then those people we obtain answers from may be the same that write the publications we are to read. They tell us aspects of the volumes in simplified ways. Also some RG answers explain more clearly what the books may be telling hazily. More so, some respondents know the stuff but have not published, so they also are very helpful. I have got much useful information from the questions and answers.
So please carry on with asking your questions although there is no harm in reading texts.
