In recent times, there has been so much talk about predatory journals. Please I'd like to know what it means to be a predatory journal and how one can identify them. What do they do that violate academic publication rules and principles? To what extent, if at all, are publications in such journals acceptable in the academic world?

In simple words the journals which publishes papers within a week or so in lieu of heavy processing fees without any review can be considered as predatory journals. Many of these journals put the names of some hifi persons in their Editorial board without their consent.
