I have a paper that recommended minor revision, and the reviewers ask me to provide the control variable for my model. But I don’t have the model's data anymore, so I cant add control variables to my result. What can I respond to this issues reviewers comments? Any idea? Any good logical response?
Strengthen the discussion with evidence that supports the control variable has no significant impact on the dependent variable or any interaction with the other independent variables.
I don't know what kind of data/model you are having but still you can justify your results that adding firm/industry-specific characteristics would not change the results significantly. Find some studies which used this logic and cite them as well to support your argument.

If not possible to get data and the result it self is good...........better to kindly replay why you can't added the control variables in the reviewer response
Is this a field experiment? Is the data subject to confidentiality therefore limited time access? Did you run a controlled experiment but not have a large enough sample size, so excluded the control group? I'd need to know more about why you don't have the data any more, but a clear explanation of the restrictions on the data would help. You might also try running a limited, hypothetical situation, maybe with students where you had a control group and a treatment group. If the treatment group results support your original data, then explain why you do not have a control group, and what you've done to address the reviewer's concerns (re-ran a similar, hypothetical example). Add these second results as a footnote to your paper, and show how the control group did (not)
significantly affect your final, original conclusions.
It is required to clearly define or identify the process or establish the process that has independent variable(s), dependent variable(s) and control variable(s). We might have to think on what parameter that affect the outcome of the (inputs) independent parameters; i.e. the (outputs) dependent parameters when there is no any variations on the independent variables (i.e. the inputs). For example, when you are cooking a curry, the ingradients (i.e the input)independent paremeters you might not change (keeping constant), but changing the temperature you may get different taste (i.e. the output) dependent variables. therefore the temperature is the control variable. similarly the time duration of cooking also. I hope that It will clear the doubt.
