Hystrix and Palaeontologica electronica seems a good options. Do you know if they are quickly???

Straight from Palaeontologia Electronica website:

"Papers are usually published within three weeks after final acceptance. Time between first submission and final publication depends on the time required to obtain peer reviews and the time it takes authors to make revisions and so varies greatly, but in 2013 the average was about 8 months."

That sounds relatively fast in the world of paleontology.

In the list proposed by Nisha some have rather slow rythm... You may check the time between submission and final acceptance to know how long you will have to wait before listing the paper in your publication list ...

Es complicado publicar en una revista de Q1 sobre sistemática, aunque un poco menos si se trata de vertebrados. Si haces algo de cladística puedes probar en Journal of Systematic Palaeontology, está muy bien valorada. Si la rapidez es muy importante, P. Electronica posiblemente sea la mejor opción.

Though it is not 100% free, I can highly recommend PeerJ. Had a great publication experience, they ask reviewers to respond within two weeks and hence can publish your article after acceptance really fast!

The costs depend on how many co-authors you have, because it is 99$ per author. But with that you get a sort of "subsciprion" and can publish one paper per year - at no further costs.

Paleontologia electronica, and Hystrix are winning for the moment, but I have to know more about Peer J. I don't understand it is 99$ per author,right? however if you pay once, then you can publish more than one manuscript in a year? without have to pay and extra fee? It is a little bit confusing for me, but it seems Peer J is the natural competitor of PLOSoNE, isn´t it? I guess it could be an alternative.

got twice experience with Palaeontologia Electronica. think it's fast depending on the referees...very good  journal with no charge! I'll recommend.

Thanks Timothy, this journal is new, right? I mean the name was another in the past, and for the moment it doesn´t have impact factor. Do you think it will have a hight impact factor for 2015?

Special papers in palaeontology is old, associated with Palaeontology which is impacted, both published by the english society of paleontology. Special papers accept very large papers and are really relevant for monography.

But now the journal was replaced in 2015 by Papers in Palaeontology, so I guess it doesn´t have impact factor yet.

as far as I remember it never had (but this should be checked). At least in certain cases, changing the name of a paper does not change the fact that it has an impact or not, see for instance Naturwissenschaften....

Oups,: it has an impact factor (1.77). I found that on research gate with the old name... they might keep the same even if they change the name!

Journal of Paleontology is devoted to Palaeontology, not only invertebrates, but they will probably reject your manuscript if it is nothing but systematics. Have a look at their instructions. Believe it or not, taxonomy by itself may not be the right subject for a Q1 journal in Palaeontology. You might try Journal of Systematic Palaeontology, but you should provide advanced works, not just traditional taxonomy. Otherwise, you may think it over, try to make palaeobiological interpretations from your Systematic work, and submit your manuscript to Paleobiology, P3 or kind of. Good luck.
