Unless the cost of this exploratory well is trivial, you don't have enough information to consider drilling. "Structure alone does not a prospect make". Have you done a regional geological study? What formations are likely to contain hydrocarbons? Why? Is there an effective seal in place? What is the source of a potential hydrocarbon charge? What is the maturation range for this area? Assuming there are hydrocarbons present, will the size of the reservoir be enough to cover your costs and make a profit? These are only the most fundamental questions that must be answered before drilling, unless of course, your drilling costs are so minimal that a dry hole is inconsequential.

Several Tcf of gas have been discovered and produced in the Surma Basin in Bangladesh and hydrocarbon seeps occur long these structures into Myanmar. An issue is tightness of the fold geometry and potential structural breach of the top seal. Shallow over-pressured gas has resulted in blow outs in the trend, so seismic and a good understanding of the structure in the subsurface is critical to assessing and managing risk.

Please note that I am not an exploration geologist/ geophysicist but have some knowledge on the structure of Tripura fold belt and Surma basin (both in Bangladesh & India); also have a fair amount of information on the hydrocarbon exploration going on in Tripura since the mid seventies that is still continuing; and more or less aware of the pre-drilling exploration/ resources required before putting a drill. In Tripura out of known 20+ fold structures, around 15+ are exposed and 5+ concealed. So far possibly 9-10 structures yielded exploitable gas resource and a couple of them (including concealed) are producing.

When I say ‘Can this structure be drilled..?’ I meant to draw attention to a unique structure that is developing/ growing within the syncline, fringing the western limb of Atharamura anticline. In the Surma basin the younger anticlinal structures, growing through fold elongation (along fold axis; e.g. Habiganj anticline, Bangladesh) or through sequential fold growith (across fold axis within two anticlines; e.g. Rashidpur anticline, Bangladesh) or through 3D fold growth (including vertical fold amplification; e.g. subsurface Agartala dome among others & Tichina structure, Tripura) are either gas producing or with established resources. Another sequential fold growth structure, khubal anticline, an offshoot branching (sequential fold growith) of Sakhan anticline in eastern Tripura has also been discovered with significant gas reserves. Similarly the site under discussion clearly display geomorphic anomaly and is a simple growing dome, thus deserves priority in exploration than those major anticlines riddled with faults.

My intention is only to point out this potential structure to the exploration authorities.
