Recently i finished my MSc, and started my PhD in Electronics and Control Engineering. My work is related to drone and its application. So far i was successful in using classic control and fuzzy logic in different application with drones, such as autonomous detecting target and landing, autonomous target tracking and flying indoor. I wrote sime papers which are either accepeted or still under review. However, i can see that nowadays everone is using AI in their applicatons. I tried to search on how or where to start it, and most of topics was related to computer vision, or applying it to some business stuff. So i wonder if someone that has experience in this field can tell me how excatly should i start or where to start in order to apply AI to my drone and work on some projects like what i did before.
I would advice to start practicing using MATLAB Neural Network Wizard. Then from there you may advance your skills.

I've recently build my own AI drone and I would love to share my experience with you. As far as hardware is concerned I used Raspberry PI and following one of the available DIYs I used my laptop to run the logic and I did the machine learning in the cloud so it ended up with a very low latency and delay. And for the software there are lot's of APIs available (e.g. Microsoft, Google) and I used Microsoft's cognitive service and open CV. If you want to start from scratch then you should start learning the AI programming basics and I recommend learning Python and then start having fun with the available AI drone DIYs and just try to improvise and manipulate their codes.
