I try to create some node sets in abaqus in a quatratic 2d-mesh to assign boundary conditions to the model.
This should be executable via a python script.
The model geometry stays a square, but the dimensions and the mesh change.
The midpoint of the square is always in (0;0)
I try several things:

session.journalOptions.setValues(replayGeometry=COORDINATE, recoverGeometry=COORDINATE)

When you are working with Abaqus Python Script, if you do not know the command to perform a especific single action but you can do it manually on the Graphical User Interface (GUI), then:
1. Perform the required action.
2. Save the .cae file (in the previously defined working directory)
3. Go to your working directory, copy the Journal file .jnl and change its extension to a .py (python file)
4. Open your new file in a python editor (i.e Spyder)
5. Check the commands and use it as a base line for your future script.
One last thing. Try it with a simple geometry (as a square) and define your set there. Then, if you want to select a node at an specific location, it would be better to divide the geometry before meshing so that you can select the node that you obtained as a result of your division. In that way, if you want to refine the mesh, your set is independent.
