I have eight parts; each has different material orientations and material properties. These parts are developed using composite layup definitions. I merged the nodes of these parts retaining boundaries. This created a new part and instance. After making the relevant changes to the boundary conditions, the model was submitted to analysis. I got an error "160 elements have missing property definitions. The elements have been identified in element set ErrElemMissingSection"
Based on my understanding I believe that the newly created part has lost the material orientations and section properties. Can I get some advice on this, is it possible to retain the material properties after merging the nodes of the parts.
I don't know whether it is possible. It seems to me that you have to provide a new set of properties which are in some fashion equivalent to the parts before merging.
