I have downloaded 3B42 RT: 3-Hour Realtime TRMM Multi-satellite Precipitation Analysis from this website https://pmm.nasa.gov/data-access/downloads/TRMM.
I cant open these files (e.g. 3B42RT_Daily.20000301.7.nc4).

Dear Warren;
you could easily use Matlab to read and edit your NetCDF files.
There is Three command which could help you in Matlab, 1. ncinfo; which shows the information of file, 2. ncdisp; which show you the variable that are in your NetCDF file, and 3. ncread; which read the variable that you want.
I read and example and send you the results.
you could also plot its map using Matlab; If you need any more help, sincerely, I will help you.
