According to B4-57 repórt Brochure 604 there are many models of VSC. For system studies we prefer the "average model", However I believe thatone shall use a model that include the arm capacitor (influence in the traveling wave reflection coeficiente) all available for PSCAD and EMTP RV. But I did not test it (only idea). Grounding model (for lightning) in theory could be very complicated, for tower Characteristic impedance is used instead of resistance only. You probably intend to model surge arrester than come to concern how to measure voltages (live part to local ground reference os remote ground)

Sorry, as you see I have more doubts than solutions. For practical purpose, today I would model VSC (type 2 CIGRE) ground mat as resistance only, and separate grounding for arrester
