Hello!
I am trying to model a rod falling into water and the subsequent collision of the rod with the bottom (and subsequently the walls) in LS-DYNA to determine the stresses in the rod and bottom.
I solve this problem using the ALE (arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian) method in LS-DYNA.
I was able to solve the problem of modeling the rod falling into the water (the first picture), but I'm having trouble setting up a two-body problem so that the rod interacts with the body simulating the bottom.
The second picture represents the bodies I am using in the problem. There are 5 bodies in total: air (set as vacuum), water, rod (so far set as rigid body), bottom (MAT_JOHNSON_COOK/SteelA36), air (also vacuum).
The problem is that I can't build no interaction between the rod and the bottom, the rod just passes by the bottom and ignores any interaction as if this domain doesn't exist.
I have set up contact between the rod and the bottom via AUTOMATIC_SURFACE_TO_SURFACE, but it doesn't work.
I also attach a keyword file with this case study.
I will be glad to any advice!
Thank you in advance!
