Hi Alexander,

I made some inquiry and got the answer hereunder from  Martin Sievers. It might be that you just have to tell him what BibTeX style you are using. He would then have a look at that style and see what he can do (Did you already have contact with him in the past ?).

Unfortunately the thread opener hasn't answered that simple question.

What BibTeX style are _you_ using? I would have a look at that style and

Dear Guibert,

thanks a lot for your advice. I have been able to resolve the problem by downloding the newest JHEP/JCAP style file. However, indeed, the BibTeX style used has to exlicitly provide for longer arXiv numbers, so that one can try to find the decisive command line in the guts of the style file and add a prescrition by hand.
