in my data I have a variable, that is measured differently across groups. This variable is described by 6 consistent dimensions, that are equal within all the 6 groups. However, each of these dimensions contains different items according to the group. So the dimensions are equal across groups, but not the items within.
I would like to compute one variable combining the 6 dimensions and all groups. Is that statistically correct?

Combining data from multiple groups at one place for computation is a normal practice. Saying it is statistically correct or not; is hard to say without seeing the results are correct or not. It depends on your objective as to what you are combining the dimensions and what you want to compute. Unless seeing the data (not necessary to be exact, dummy data can work), it is hard to say it is statistically correct or not. But if your question is to say; is it viable to combine these dimensions? Yes, it is. Depends on the language and environment you are using you can manipulate to combine data from different groups and apply your calculations. For instance, if you are using Python, its Dataframe objects can help in this regard.
