Dear all,

I am using a universal testing machine for fracture toughness of epoxy resins via single-edge notched bending test. The maximum load displayed on instrument is in N (newton). According to ASTM D5045-14, for calculation of KIC (fracture toughness) the maximum load should be in kN. I get a value of 186 N for epoxy resin. After conversion to kN it becomes 0.186 kN. The formula for fracture toughness according to D5045-14 is

KIC = (PQ/BW^1/2) * f(x)

where PQ is maximum load

B is thickness of the sample in cm

W is with of the sample in cm

f(x) is dimension less

Now my question is, how can i convert it to Mpa. m^1/2 because it is the standard unit for fracture toughness. Kindly, help.
