Assuming traffic bandwidth B is equally divided into N subcarriers and each subcarrier may be shared by multiple users in a time-division manner, does the following transmission rate for the k-th user in the i-th cell on the m-th subchannel make sense? Any explanation would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
Each subcarrier at each time slot is considered as a channel use and carries a complex value symbol. The symbol itself is modulated and carries a block of bits. What I guess is that the equation which seems to be representing instantaneous capacity (not ergodic capacity) of each channel use in case of fast fading channel (channel gain and so as SINR changes over different channel uses i.e. subcarriers), indicates that how much bit of information could be carried by the subcarrier (channel use) while detected error free if the receive SINR is known. If there is no channel access during that channel use (X=0) then no bit of information is transmitted and capacity is zero.

it calculated for the given number of user terminals using linear precoding schemes which are the function of the estimated channel. These parameters are calculated in the presence of composite fading i.e. large scale and small scale fading. It is observed that there is significant improvement in terminal capacity.. I guess signal BW is considered equal to subcarrier BW here in this equation. The noise power in the SINR denominator seems to be divided by signal BW (=subcarrier BW) in order to determine capacity in bit per subcarrier per Hz (the subcarrier BW in SINR denominator seems to be taken out of SINR) and then the logarithm term is multiplied with signal BW (=subcarrier BW) to determine the capacity in bit per subcarrier. However, dividing the noise power by signal bandwidth in order to determine the capacity in per Hz is basically incorrect.
