Hi everyone,
I got a Bachelor in Embedded System Engineer and now I'm studying Master degree in a Computer Network & Security Lab .
My professor told me to pick a topic by myself which makes me feel interesting. But I don't have any knowledge in Computer Network - Security so It's just like swimming in the big ocean without guide.
Would you mind giving your opinion or what should I begin?
Should I change to another lab which is related to my major ( machine learning, embedded system) or study new thing ?

The topic which I have to choose must be inside the System - Network & Security. It cannot be out side of the field.
My professor didn't allow me to use machine learning or embedded system. Cause our lab ( I think ) is in the application/software layer so the hardware layer ( RF...) or the embedded system (IoT) is not allowed (maybe It's related to R&D, not for researcher). I'm studying abroad by Lab's scholarship so I have to follow the rule.
I found some trends: SDN, NFV, Fog... but I never heard those things before. It's very hard to find a interesting thing or begin in a field I've never been to. Cause all the time when I was undergraduate, I only programmed python, C, bash Script to make things work. I really love those times.
Dear you can chose many project related to your field it's not only how to pick what you find but see where you can find yourself.
You can work on Embedded System projects in conjunction with Computer Network.
There are many types of networks used in the embedded system:
1) Telecommunication systems make use of numerous embedded systems ranging from telephone switches for the network to mobile phones at end user.
2) Computer networking uses dedicated routers and Network Bridge to route data.
3) The Advanced HVAC system uses networked thermostats for more accurate and efficient control of temperature that may change during a day or season.
4) The home automation system uses wired and wireless networking to control lights, climate, security, audio and so on.
