I am using rapid ethnography for my PhD research and so have read widely on the topic and found that it fits well with my approach. However, papers by Donna Baines and co-authors say that for it to be rapid ethnography there MUST be two or more researchers. I haven't seen this suggested/mandated elsewhere in the literature.
As my PhD is a sole researcher investigation, I am concerned about this stipulation. If you know of any papers that overtly clarify that sole investigator rapid ethnography is okay or have any other suggestions I would be appreciative. Additionally, I am curious as to Donna Baines' and others opinions on whether focused, short-term, and quick ethnography are exactly the same as RE or if the team investigator requirement could be dropped for any of these?
