The development of industry 4.0 is accelerating in the coming decades but it is not quite obvious how the digitalization affects the nature, shape and pattern of different products. Furthermore, how the waste stream of the products would be like is still a far cry. Is there any study that focuses on that aspect?

Thanks Julian for your response. You have plenty of works in the industrial 4.0 aspects, which was not known to me. Thanks for this. I have already taken into consideration the above mentioned circular economy studies. But these studies do not really focus on recycling per se. So it seems that the focus on recycling in this new industrial paradigm is missing., Do you think so? what may be the future research trend towards developing smart recycling?
Dear S M Mizanur Rahman , there is literature on comparable topics, but not under the term Industry 4.0. For instance, technical papers concern recycling aspects, often found under terms such as smart manufacturing or smart materials.
However, if you refer to Industry 4.0 as horizontal integration/vertical integration, i.e. across the supply chain and across functional units, literature on recycling is rather seldom. For instance, on data backflow of products in use to raw materials suppliers and recycling.
