If steel fiber reinforced concrete jacket is used to strengthen damaged concrete column, how it may improve the mechanical properties of damaged concrete columns.
retrofitting square reinforced concrete columns with full steel jackets enhanced the compressive strength more than double the strength of the original column without retrofitting. Also, confinement of reinforced concrete columns with steel jackets enhanced the ductility of the column
Yes you are right Mohannad H. Al-Sherrawi , the damaged column must be assessed first to determine the severity of the damage and its residual strength. The repair material to be considered is subjected to this assessment. FRP either GFRP and CFRP is the most popular material used to repair damaged structures. A lot of litterateurs discuss on the performance of FRP as repair material. However, there are limited literature discuss on the application of steel fiber reinforced concrete as repair material especially the one with higher strength like UHPFRC. That is the reason I came up with above question.
