We wish to connect a set of 16 microphones to an acquisition board using the coaxial cable RG-174/U. According to the sound source behavior, the microphones will produce amplitudes in the range 8 microvolts - 25 mV, from 200 Hz up to 100 kHz. Since the RG-174/U cable will be near three phase cables and other cables with other kind of signals, electromagnetic interference (EMI) could affect the signal of interest. Does anyone happen to have experimental data on the influence of EMI over the coaxial cable? How can we make sure that EMI will not affect the signals of interest?
