Hi,

I've been working in detection of arsenic in water samples.  My solution detects As (III) in a given sample.  However in samples collected from tube wells, As(V) and As(III) coexist.  Is there a way to convert entire arsenate in water sample to arsenite?  I am interested in knowing total arsenic content.

I did go through existing literature which extensively says potassium iodide is used for the reduction.  However, they do not mention "exact procedure" of how to do it.

Could anyone please point me to the correct resources that explain in detail about how to reduce arsenate to arsenite?

Thanks in advance,

Sujeevan.
