I have been trying study and perform non linear analysis in Opensees. I am having problem assigning the parameters for the hinges based on Lignos model. I tried to go through the paper but felt it hard to understand. Can anyone explain in clear and concise way ??

you have first to calculate them and then assign them in OpenSees. Can you be more specific about which parameters you are not understanding well?

Karim Aljawhari Actually I am trying for a pushover analysis in Opensees. Its my first time in Opensees. I am vague about almost all the parameters there. Would be so much of help if you could guide me through the parameters one by one. My work is stuck here for more than 2 weeks now.

This is good. First, you need the stiffness (My/theta yield)
Then you need the hardening ratio (the slope of the hardening branch normalized by the elastic stiffness). The remainings are the cyclic deterioration parameters, which can be calculated based on the paper of Lignos.
Karim Aljawhari in the paper by Lignos, it was for the steel section. I didnot find anything as such for the RCC. How do we compute the parameters for the concrete sections. can you send me the paper ?

Rupesh Uprety, I hope you have already found the answer since the discussion was started around a year ago.
In case you haven't found it, please see Sec 3 of https://peer.berkeley.edu/sites/default/files/peer-atc-72-1_report.pdf, which is based on Prof. Haselton's work, to obtain the modeling parameters required to define the hinge properties of RC beams and columns, especially for pre-capping and post-capping rotation capacity, and cyclic deterioration parameter.
Regarding the elastic stiffness of the concentrated springs, we will make them rigid due to these two reasons: (i) it will only be activated when the demand exceeds the elastic limit, and (ii) they won't change the dynamic property of the structure when vibrating in the elastic region.
