This looks like a fairly standard problem in mechanics of materials: deformation of an elastic (I guess?) solid under a uniformly distributed load.

For simple geometries and boundary conditions this can be solved in closed form (Timoshenko-like solutions), for more complex geometries and boundary conditions you may need Finite Element Analysis to 'easily' solve the problem.

The Finite Element Method (FEM) had a great diffusion in modelling of various branches of Physics and Engineering Sciences, but is not the single way for numerically dealing with Solid Mechanics. I use the Cell Method (CM), which allows us to investigate more complex geometries and boundary conditions. Moreover, the main goal of the CM is to provide an explanation to the similarities we can establish between some disciplines which, apparently, are very far from each other.

You cannot find any commercial code based on the CM, at present, since the CM is a new numerical method. For an overview on the potentialities of the CM, you can take a look to the papers on my profile.

I prefer to use Timoshenko for analytical solution and finite element method for numerical solution. You can use Abaqus, Ansys or SolidWorks for FEM calculation.
