How can I use network simulator (NS2) in cooperative sensing ?

I need to know how I can use the NS2 for adapting sensing protocol in cognitive radio. Then, I need to translate the output of NS2 using Matlab. Please can someone provide me with short notes to find a solution.

sensing threshold can be defined and also define the adapting range by defining the sampling interval for which the radio needs to get adapted
