How can I generate HClO in solution starting from NaClO and in which volume ratio should I add it to the BSA solution? I do not know if it is better to add just a small volume of a more concentrate solution, or a bigger volume of a diluite solution. Several articles simply say, that the final concentration of hypochlorous acid is 5 mM but they do not give any other information.

Thanks for your answer, but I do not want to produce "pure" HClO in solution. I would like to have just a sufficent amount to oxidize, at least in part, BSA. I do not even care how much BSA will be oxidized, because I can quantify it in a second step. I think that is is done by using NaClO, but I could not yet find any article where it is described.

I am a chemist as well and I am since 3 weeks in biochemistry involved. So it is quite unusual for me to work like this.
I would not use H2O2 because it is so toxic, that cells go in apoptosis quite fast. I could have a look if there is a concentration that doesn't kill cells, but I would like to avoid it.
I will have look before at the second possibility you suggested. Thank you!
