I have a mixture of pharmaceuticals (trace of hundreds micrograms/litres) and hydrocarbons in water matrix, what method can be used to extract the compounds and detection them?

The default method would be to use either solid-phase or liquid-liquid extraction to concentrate the drugs and hydrocarbons and analyse the extract using HPLC-MS or GC-MS depending on the volatility of the drugs.
Details would depend on the nature of the drugs and other compounds of your interest.
Hello Michal, any paper on extraction of such mix, meanwhile, I have analgesic (1) and anti-biotics (1) as the pharm in a mixture with hydrocarbons.
Use HPLC and/or ion exchange chromatography. At that level is difficult to extract, maybe with prep-HPLC.

I would need some reassurance you are proficient in instrumental analysis to be able to give you a meaningful answer or to be your guide in solving the problem. That said I'd suggest you contact someone in the analytical chemistry department of your University to help you out, or even run the analyses for you.
