i am developing a LCA on a construction project and I am looking for new alternative solution for the concrete material
On concrete the major contribution comes from the cement like 98%. So changing sand or gravel will not change your results significantly. You can look on the work on low carbon content cement LC3 you could use those for your LCA. On the other hand you can only plan alternatives based on the application of the materials. If you have a highrise building your options are more limited than those you have for a single storey house. For instance if you change all for timber, then you need to make sure that your functional unit reflects the differences in material demand, maintenance, life span and end-of-life of your options.
Lime seems to consistent as a Binder, but if you can look into HempCrete, for low rise buildings, and grancrete for finishes.
