Heat treatment for CE8MN ?

Having trouble in getting required properties for CE8MN Casting. Heat treating CE8MN castings according to ASTM Standard A351 (solution annealing at 2050F). tried water and nitrogen as quenching media, any information in this regard is highly appreciated. Thanks

When you say you are having trouble getting the required properties, do you mean that your test is not producing data, or that your properties do not match the specification?

Casting porosity has a strong impact on mechanical properties, especially elongation. If you are not achieving the required ductility, I would use destructive (cut and polish) and/or non-destructive (X-ray, ultrasonic) analysis to confirm the level of porosity.
