people often complain of robots and artificial intelligence taking the jobs of men. i was just wondering if the world really needs such technology. why does one need a machine to think like a human to do a task instead of just getting a person to perform that task?
Almost without exception, robotics has replaced repetitive and mindless human tasks on assembly lines and other dehumanizing work environments. This shift has not resulted in higher unemployment rates over the decades during which it was introduced. As for AI, the potential impact is worse (like replacing human drivers, which could eliminate over 4 million jobs in the US alone), but new jobs are being created by AI as well.

We are living in the era of AI and robotics. We find applications of these techniques in almost every field starting from manufacturing to prediction, operations to services, preparing life-saving drugs to sophisticated surgery, and so on. Yes, I do agree that there are certain shortcomings of these techniques. However, the positive impacts are much more than these shortcomings. As per the 2020 data, the value of the global AI market is about US$ 40.21 Billion. So, you can imagine the impact of AI, robotics, and allied fields in our life.
It’s definitey a complex situation. The advantage of using AI and robotics to replace repetitive task is to free up human capital to do more creative projects and potentially raising GDP and output per capita. It all depends on the implementation.
