Have ethical concerns arisen in conjunction with the use of "empathy" in this subject?

First, congratulations on completion and publication of the dissertation.

I noticed, on brief examination, that "empathy" is used. I assume this relates to the "Squeeze Me" gently use of empathy as well. Seeing that today raises warning signs for me.
