Dear Professor and other researcher please give a valuable research topic on material physics for my little brother. he wants to do M Phil on material physics
Are you seriously ready for this? :) You will get thousands of suggestions however, I don't think any will be immediately useful for you. Research topics are matters of personal interest and exclusive to an individual. Let your brother decide what interest he has in physics then the problem can be better streamlined. All the best.
This usually depends on what topics are offered at the university/institute you are working at. If your brother is still studying, let him take courses in different sub-disciplines for him to find out what he likes. A second consideration might also be to find a research group that you like to work with (both in terms of career perspective and also on a personal level). To be honest, there are a lot of factors not directly related to science that will influence the choice of main research topic. And in the end it is always possible to change the field afterwards (although it might not be the easiest of things).
I would go for magnetic materials, I believe these can be very interesting and there are many physical phenomena which havent been explained satisfactory
I think is good he explore bio-sensing application. As stated above graphene is among the most research materials currently. Its composite with other materials give complementary result
Where he want to study MPhil. Do that university/institution has good facilities. Topic is not important. Lab Facilities, Professor and his research interests, publications are important. So, consider all these things and let him choose the topic. So many topics are there in materials science, but the things is how your brother is interesting to do Research. Any how...I wish him good luck.
I'll suggest you to work on some application based topics and something that'll help for the betterment of today's environmental conditions, something like green and clean energy production.
