I want to prepare a material by solid state reaction. Should i heat the starting powders to its melting point to begin the reaction, not or higher than its melting points?
solid state reaction - So definitely not more than the melting point
you have to refer powder metallurgy process
consists of 3 steps:
1. powder blending (pulverisation) - at room temperature,
2. die compaction - at room temperature,
3. Sintering - is a solid state reaction under a high heat for a long period of time - below melting point - that depends on reaction temperature of the composition
