That depends on the final application. For example if your process has a particle size, morphology and crystal structure dependence. By using precursors salts such as chloroplatinic acid to make some electrocatalysts you can control the nucleation and particle size. Also, it is possible to achieve alloy material by one step reaction by mixing the precursors (for example chloroplatinic acid + ruthenium chloride) and in this way obtain PtRu alloy nanoparticles.
Thanks for your suggestions. It Will be very useful for me. But in my case I would like to synthesis photocatalysts by using some transition metal as cocatalysts. Instead of PtRu as bimetallic cocatalyst as you said what such of metals could you propose me for this synthesis? As for example if I need to obtain PtNi as bimetallic cocatalyst which suitable way can I follow?

I think using metal precursors salt solutions is the best option to get Metal-Metal co-catalyst i.e. NPs alloy. By using precursors salt solutions, one can control the nucleation growth of the NPs.
