I plan to use the well log data and core data provided for each of the wells given in the dataset to conduct a prediction, using AI techniques (e.g. Fuzzy Logic, ANN, etc.), of a number of parameters that can be used to determine reservoir quality (e.g. permeability). I've gone through the well log data (LWD_EWL), however it looks like there aren't many .LAS or .DLIS files that can be input directly into a well log interpretation software and easily viewed on Notepad. Several of the logs are given as images (.TIF) instead. Did any of you find digital logs that can be input directly? Or would we have to digitize the well log images?

I would like to use the data set for teaching.

I was able to download all data excluding the four largest zip files (mostly seismic data), becouse they are too big.

Did anybody succeed in downloading the four big files (54GB, 330GB, 1.2TB, 2.6TB), and if yes, what was the strategy/procedure/technical requirements?

If I was a college professor I would use the data set for teaching a graduate level seminar and help guide the students along their individual paths. After a couple of semesters I'd take the best and publish the results.

This is a treasure trove. When I was a student we worked on data we acquired in the summer at field camp. Please do not discount this valuable gift because you have to digitize a few old logs. I bet Golden Software has an Academic discount on their Didger program.

Roberto Bencini I was able to download the 4-D seismic data (330 GB), but it failed several times along the way. I didn't really do anything special, just started the download and left my PC running over the weekend. I did not download the other large files (1.2TB, 2.6TB) at the moment due to lack of storage space.

Ernest Berkman thanks for the information. I've checked out Golden Software's Didger product. They have affordable packages for universities and students. I'm going to try out their free trial.

Roberto Bencini looks like they've tried to address this issue. Check out the portal again:

"We recommend using Azure Storage Explorer when exploring the content of, or parts of this dataset. Using this tool will enable you to explore and download only the parts you are interested in. We also recommend using AZCopy for downloading large files. It has the advantage of being able to resume a download should it be interrupted."

Muhammad, Thanks for sharing this great resource. However, I have some issues to Log In into Equinor´s site...It ask me to Log In as "Other" (Not Equinor employee) but since I don´t have account won´t allow me to continue.

Did you face a similar issue? Might you help me with it?

I downloaded it two months ago, have not worked on it. Use Azure Storage Explorer, if you want to download only parts of the data, otherwise the data is huge.

What EOR technique did they implement in Volve if any? Any core flood data sets in there?(query for those who have already downloaded the data set)

hello everyone, I am exploring the Seismic data which comes with *.SEGY extension, for studying rock-succession.

I am unable to find a software to open those files(*.SEGY). Thus i am unable to read/ make sense of seismic-data disclosed by Equinor.

Please assist me with this problem, Thanks!

*.segy is the standard seismic data format. There are numerous programs that allow for viewing of seismic data. Perhaps "SeiSee" is the simplest - Google it for the nearest download location.

here at Aberdeen University we want to use the Volve dataset for some geomechanical modelling. We saw there are several *.LTI files. How can we open them? Which kind of data they contain? Basically what we are after is mostly the open hole logs for the geomechanical modelling, plus the petrophysical logs. So caliper, gamma ray, sonic, density, volume of shale, porosity, saturations, mineralogical fractions. Any help really appreciated. Thanks. Stefano
