The availability of a CT scan is not always possible in a short time and early markers of intracranial posttraumatic lesions can facilitate to transfer early a patient in a hub hospital.
A few years ago a biotech company called Banyan Biomarkers was awarded $23 million from the Defense Department to develop a blood test that detects brain trauma: have you aware of any progress or developments?
Thank you very much for the contributions. In consideration of your educational goals, let me know if you have news. My goal is to have rapid plasmatic tests (also on board ambulance) able to discriminate brain traumatic injury before brain CT scan.
The goal would be transport the patient with suspected brain injury quickly in hub with neurosurgery when the nearest hospital hasn't NCH: the CT scan is mandatory in both cases.
