The availability of a CT scan is not always possible in a short time and early markers of intracranial posttraumatic lesions can facilitate to transfer early a patient in a hub hospital.
A few years ago a biotech company called Banyan Biomarkers was awarded $23 million from the Defense Department to develop a blood test that detects brain trauma: have you aware of any progress or developments?

Overall, there haven't been conclusive data to result in clinical utility of biomarkers at this time.

The goal would be transport the patient with suspected brain injury quickly in hub with neurosurgery when the nearest hospital hasn't NCH: the CT scan is mandatory in both cases.
