I went to an international private highschool in Florence, Italy whose Principal and art instructor were in a longterm, committed, open gay relationship. When I enrolled, at age 15 going on 16, they'd been together already a decade. It was so out that if anyone said or hinted something pro hetero we were reprimanded. Thus I evolved understanding homosexuality as 'normal' and feared hetero and closeted professors! My previous secondary school had been a puritanical department of defense high school in Germany, so ASF was a breath of fresh air in the hills above Florence, Italy.
Exactly. Politically correct 'outing' should not be part of the classroom process. I managed a project and lectured (2004-2012) at a Russian university, and Russia outlaws public displays/politically motivated 'advertising' of homosexual relations, though does not outlaw one being homosexual. The reason is developmental, they do not want the youth, even students, evolving differently from what their culture would produce without 'western' 'advertising'. Thus it is handled as a 'matter of fact', you are or you are not, since birth. It is not presented as something 'to try' for the 'youth'. No 'recruiting'.
