Hi,
For part of my PhD data collection, I did individual interviews following up on individual questionnaire responses, so in essence a series of specialized interviews without a common core of questions.
The rationale for administering specialised interviews was primarily based on the sampling process that I had used to select participants. I had used purposive sampling as I wanted to participants who were relevant to the topic on investigation, educational leadership practices and would most likely have the experience and expertise to provide quality information and valuable insights on the research topic. Dexter (2008) mentions that specialists are those persons who have specialised information about, or who have involvement with, any social or political process.
I am trying to find some literature regarding 'specialised interviews'.
