I'm advising an undergrad this summer, and I'm looking for a way for her to compute some magnetic fields of a paramagnet of different geometries in an external field. We only need magnetostatic simulations, so more advanced packages like mumax feel like overkill for what we are doing. Does anyone know of a simple package/software an undergrad can jump right into?

Built on FEniCS, specialised for magnetics, designed for micromagnetics but usable for magnetostatics too. Open source and Python friendly. >>>> https://github.com/martinosorbic/magnum.fe
YOu can use either Elmer FEM - has dedicated magnetostatics module. GUI available, but scripting possible. A bit steeper learning curve than FEniCS.

Meanwhile, I recommend ParaView or Mayavi for visualising.
