But actually I am not talking about a specific application or CBR system.
I'm concerning with the main concepts of CBR as general.
CBR can be considered as part of AI as well as KM. AI as in the techniques used to retrieve the case/solution to the problem you have and KM as the storage and retaining the solutions you want to achieve.
Currently, we consider using CBR as part of traffic scenario analysis in the city of Prague. Together with a data reduction algorithm and large amount of traffic sensors, the CBR help to identify the major traffic situations and thus support the operators in recommending control actions. We have approached this topic already using other techniques, the use of CBR is in scope now. Within this study, CBR belongs more to the field of KM.
Hi Heba. Currently I should not be talking in much detail about that. It is in the first stages yet. As an example, the scenarios consist of different configurations of signal plans. Prior to real instability in traffic, the traffic incoming to the problem areas can be decreased (by prolonged red time), and at the same time time green time is increased for vehicles leaving this area. this is nothing new and is often used for urban adaptive control. There are different strategies that can help. They are mainly copying what the police would do in such cases. Best Regards,
Hi Heba. Please, let me know in more detail what you mean by your question. What exactly do you mean by impact on the users? CBR is a tool used to address some problem. From the user perspective, it is not important to even know what is inside the box - in our case CBR. They want a solution (control strategy) for given problem (traffic situation) and that is what we provide.
And even for the users is in my experience this approach interesting. With CBR you are able to demonstrate that you had similar situation in the past, you used certain particular approach and it led to certain results. So when you do it "again", nothing can go significantly wrong. When dealing with agencies such as highway administration or the police, such "experience-based approach" is the most acceptable one. At least that is my experience.
But I am really not sure, whether it is an answer to your question.
Yes Ondřej, I mean users like the decision makers and the executive managers for instance. What withdrawals they found while using the CBR? You actually answered my question. Thanks
